不吃零食 愛護牙齒

孩子擁有陽光的笑容是父母的心願,而健康的牙齒是你孩子笑得燦爛的先決條件。因此,本科所推行的「陽光笑容新一代」家校護齒活動,並為適齡兒童編寫一系列圖書,向孩子傳遞護理牙齒的信息。我們相信,如果父母能在日常生活中加以配合,幫助孩子把所學的實踐,效果會更加理想。
以下是幫助孩子建立良好護齒習慣的幾個要點:
一. 孩子應該每天起床後、睡覺前用一粒青豆分量的氟化物(FLUORIDE)兒童牙膏刷牙,氟化物能鞏固牙齒,防止蛀牙。因此請父母幫助孩子養成這個良好的刷牙習慣。同時,由於小朋友的手部小肌肉活動能力有限,刷牙時未能徹底清潔所有牙齒表面,因此父母需要每晚替孩子刷牙,確保他的牙齒刷得乾淨,以促進口腔健康。
二. 進食次數愈多,蛀牙機會愈大。因此,為了避免孩子隨時吃喝,父母需要幫助孩子建立有規律的飲食習慣:每天除了早、午、晚三餐以外,家長額外為孩子安排兩餐之間吃喝不多於一次(清水除外),養成不吃零食、愛護牙齒的良好飲食習慣。
三. 孩子的口腔是否健康,須透過專業的牙科醫生檢查才能確定。因此,父母須帶孩子每年定期檢查牙齒,在牙科醫生的指導下,做好預防及保健的功夫。如果牙齒有任何問題,也可以及早作出適當的治療。
Parents all wish their children have bright smiles. Bright smiles are shown through healthy teeth. To promote bright smiles, the Oral Health Promotion Division has initiated a "Brighter Smiles for the New Generation" home-school oral health activity programme and has published a series of picture books for your children. To be effective in our efforts, parents must help your child apply what they have learned by establishing good oral care habits in them in the following manner:
1. Help your child establish the habit of brushing the teeth in the morning and before bed at night with children’s fluoride toothpaste. Fluoride strengthens teeth and a pea-sized amount of toothpaste is adequate to prevent tooth decay. Additionally, help your child brush his / her teeth every night to ensure that their teeth are thoroughly clean. The children's fine motor-co-ordination is not yet well developed and their manual dexterity is poor. They are unable to clean all the tooth surfaces properly.
2. Help your child establish a tooth-friendly dietary habit by limiting snacks to once in between meals and water only to quench thirst throughout the day. This is to reduce at will snacking, hence the chance of developing tooth decay.
3. Bring your child to the dentist for a regular dental check-up annually. The dentist can provide tailored oral care advice and render early treatment to any problem detected. Thus, your child's oral health will be maintained.
